Convergence Headwaters: Membership for Organizations
Like the headwaters of a river system, Convergence Headwaters members are the source of everything we do. Formations organizing and mobilizing mass bases of people, from independent political organizations to tenant unions, feed our readership as well as our team of volunteer editors and contributors, and always have.
Convergence Headwaters members are movement organizations who value the work we do to publish strategic and tactical insights for today’s political terrain. By becoming a member, your organization gains exclusive benefits while helping keep Convergence Magazine independent, movement-accountable, and sustainable.
The work of Convergence has always been to bring diverse streams of movement work, across issue areas, geography, and organizing models, into conversation so we can sharpen our collective analysis and practice. Headwaters is a way that we’re creating a more intentional mutual relationship between the organizations that are building a real movement for multi-racial democracy and the online hub for building practical and analytical skills for grassroots power.
Headwaters Benefits
All Headwaters members receive invitations to members-only events, like special training opportunities with our contributors. Examples of past trainings include Donor Organizing 101 with Haley Bash and Surround Sound Communications with Ritti Singh.
Members are also invited to office hours with staff. Managing Editor Akin Olla and Publisher Cayden Mak host monthly office hours so members and past contributors can soft-pitch article ideas and put our heads together on understanding the conjuncture and sharpening our shared strategies.
As part of onboarding, your organization can provide a list of staff and members who want to receive Convergence’s popular newsletters, including quarterly Headwaters-specific updates from the Convergence team.
Headwaters members at every level are also eligible for a quarterly audio underwriting opportunity on Block & Build, in the style of NPR episode underwriting. The host will read your copy and it will be included in the episode credits.
Membership Tiers
In addition to a base tier, we’re offering two more membership tiers with additional benefits, from newsletter advertising space to more facetime with the Convergence team.
Headwaters Builder Benefits
Newsletter Space
Headwaters Builders get access to a quarterly footer advertising feature in the Convergence weekly newsletter, which circulates to nearly 9000 highly enfranchised movement people and boasts an average open rate above 60%.
We suggest using this space to highlight your big event, a new report or publication, or major campaign or project.
New programming
Headwaters Builders will also be invited to participate in piloting political education programming for member organizations. We’re working to discover what is of value to member organizations and their constituencies and support learning, inquiry, and exchange to strengthen our movements.
Headwaters Champion Benefits
Headwaters Champions get additional access to Convergence staff time, including a quarterly option to have a member of our editorial team drop in virtually to a staff or membership meeting to discuss the current political conditions or things we’re learning.
Additional benefits are being added all the time: we’re keen to know what you’d like as a benefit!
